ELSE IT’S A VERY COMMON DUTCH NAME
How many ways are there to get on a bike? How could you eat dinner upside down? Should shoes only be worn on one’s feet? Why don’t we make up our own words for everything? What if grandpa’s in the stroller and your baby sister in grandpa’s wheelchair? If everyone thinks you’re a cat, would you still have to go to school?
With boundless creativity and ingenuity, three actors on stage show how our daily routines would look if they were different or reversed. This results in hilarious displays, bizarre images, made-up inventions and slapstick accidents. They view everything around them like they’ve never seen anything like it before. As if they’re completely ignorant of what, say, a fork does – and just as oblivious as to what it is called. That can be fun, but also a bit complicated. How do you tell someone you like their socks if you don’t know what a sock is yet? Slowly they figure out that it might be a good idea to just stick to what we’ve all agreed on, after all.

Jetse Batelaan directed three shows at Bambie. His desire was to create a show at Artemis within the Bambie way of working that he so admired. Bambie finds Jetse’s daring approach wonderfully refreshing, especially the way he drives conceptual ideas unflinchingly to their logical conclusion. This cooperation gives them the chance to finally make a children’s show together.
