IN SHORT: Knock Knock Boom Boom is a rhythmic dance concert for the entire family, where three performers dance, drum, and sing from the beat of their hearts, building together a lively, tangible celebration of rhythm and longing.
Knock knock, who’s there? Boom boom, what’s that sound? Something’s pounding under my chest. My clock, my rhythm. My heartbeat. It always keeps going and keeps me moving. I clench my hand into a fist and bounce it on the table. I stamp my feet, left, right, pa-pa-pa-and-OEMPF. And again, but this time with both of us. Now you, what does your rhythm sound like? Ratatatata-tsssss. Nice! And now all at the same time. This is starting to feel like a party…
Knock Knock Boom Boom is a rhythmic dance concert for the whole family, an ode to the heartbeat. Three performers dance, drum, and sing whatever their hearts desire. You don’t just hear it, you see the rhythm moving through their whole bodies. Knock Knock Boom Boom is a journey that starts playfully and lets our deepest heart’s desires sound louder and louder.

About the makers
De Dansers is an Utrecht based company led by choreographer/dancer Josephine van Rheenen and composer/musician Guy Corneille. They are known for their ‘dance concerts’: organic gatherings of modern dance and live music. Performances by De Dansers tell accessible, intuitively compelling stories about liberation and surrender, in which playful anarchism is never far. They shake loose what is stuck or get quiet when attention is needed.
De Dansers wants to inspire physicality and personal connection, especially in a society in which we increasingly live on screens. They do this by simply making contact and providing energy in everything they do. De Dansers particularly believes in the value of dance at a young age. Then your body is full of movement, asking for running, jumping, touching. Then the imagination must be able to run wild in your brain. What you miss out on as a child, you won’t make up for later. They create work that appeals to children’s zest for life and reawakens adults’ forgotten desires for surrender and physicality.
